Leaving at 10.00 am from our own hotel: The Residence at Bolenna in the heart of Poldark’s Cornwall. We are pleased to launch the newly curated:
POLDARK’s FINEST. (4 nights, 3 days)

Four nights at The Residence at Bolenna on bed and breakfast basis plus three full days touring.

Day one:

West Cornwall Poldark Film Locations:

We travel west through the mining empire of Sir Francis Bassett and drop down towards Penzance and Marazion for the spectacular sight of St Michael’s Mount. We may stop for some photos or perhaps a coffee before driving through the narrow Cornish lanes to Penberth Cove which features as “Sawle” village in Poldark . After treading the stepping stones and taking pictures of Morwenna and Drake’s cottage we will visit the iconic Minack Theatre which overlooks Porthcurno’s turquoise bay and golden sands .

Lunch stop at The Minack cafe.

Just five minutes drive through winding lanes takes us to Porthgwarra cove and the breathtaking cliffs of Gwennap Head. Most of the clifftop scenes are filmed here along with stage coach sequences and much of the clifftop horse riding.

Clear days allow views to Lands End and often beyond to the remote Isles of Scilly.

We then cross over the peninsula to visit the mines at Botallack and retrace the steps of the miners to get up close and personal with Ross Poldark’s Wheal Leisure and Wheal Grace and marvel at the views of Crowns mine which featured as Francis Poldark’s “Grambler”.

We wind up this wonderful introduction to THE BEST OF POLDARK’s CORNWALL with a scenic drive along the elevated coastal road that takes us to St Ives. If we are making good time with the day you may even have time to stop and do a little shopping in one of its cobbled streets .

We aim to return to The Residence at Bolenna by 6.00 pm to allow time to rest before drinks and dinner .

Day two:

We drive south to Dollar Cove and The Church of the Storms through the heartlands of Cornwall’s mining heritage . After recreating the final scene of the show and visiting the Church where Dwight and Caroline married we drive to Falmouth to either attend Charlie Choak’s Pasty School or just enjoy a bit of shopping before you embark on the Enterprise Boat to retrace the route that merchants made up the Truro River, passing Tregothnan estate and other landmarks on the way.

A drive around historic Truro before we travel through the lanes and villages of Winston Graham’s own Poldark’s Cornwall to visit literary and film locations.

Last stop of the day we visit Wheal Coates which featured as the derelict Wheal Leisure in the final climactic episode of the saga. Take a breathtaking coastal walk to St Agnes Head where Ross and Demelza said so many sad farewells and drive through St Agnes via Stippy Stappy Lane and other familiar names that inspired the author.

We return back to The Residence for drinks and dinner .

Day three:

Charlestown Harbour, NAMPARA, Doc Martin’s “Port Wenn” (Port Isaac) and Holywell Beach

We first drive to visit the historic harbour at Charlestown where all the maritime scenes are filmed.

The harbour has undergone a recent renaissance and we may stop for coffee here if desired. We then wend our way inland towards Bodmin Moor where you will have an exclusive visit to the private farm used as Ross and Demelza’s NAMPARA. After walking the fields, gardens and farmyards and meeting some of the livestock “stars” of the show we will drive to Port Isaac on the north coast to enjoy a lunch stop and sightseeing tour of DOC MARTIN’s “PORT WENN”. Everyone loves a bit of Port Isaac and you may even meet a cast member or perhaps encounter one of the real live “Fisherman’s Friends”.

As the afternoon draws on we travel west to the most iconic beach of the Poldark series: HOLYWELL BEACH. If the tide allows we will walk the length of the beach and venture into the cave of the holy well itself and maybe even recreate that exciting mine rescue of Season five.

Dinner and your final sleep at The Residence winds up your lovely 4 night stay.
